Suffolk Book League
On 7 July, I gave a talk about Huntingfield's Heroine to members of the Suffolk Book League (SBL) in the Ipswich Institute. Under a vaulted ceiling, we had a varied discussion about the lives of women in the Victorian era, researching local history and how gold leaf was sold in the 1850s. I hope I've encouraged more people to visit St Mary's Church in Huntingfield to see the beautiful angel ceiling that Mildred Holland painted there. Afterwards, members were able to buy books from the stall set up by the lovely local Dial Lane Bookshop. Hugely more eminent writers have spoken at the SBL before me so I was honoured to be invited.
